In order to enter Japan with the purpose of studying from foreign countries, it is needed to get "Visa". To get a visa, in principle, "proxy" living in Japan applies for "Certificate of Eligibility for a Status of Residence" at Immigration Bureau on behalf of you.
When certified, the "Certificate of Eligibility for a Status of Residence" will be sent to the proxy, and then, he/she will send the certificate to you. When you submit this certificate to your Japanese Embassy or consulate abroad, you can receive a visa within a short time.

　A proxy must meet one of the following conditions:

・Professor or staff of the organization which admits your entrance
・Staff of the organization which provides you with the scholarship, or the organization which supplies your academic or living expenses
・The person who supplies your academic or living expenses
・Your relative living in Japan
